Rice is a staple food in many parts of the world, and it can be cooked in a variety of ways to make delicious meals. In this blog, I'll share a simple yet flavorful rice recipe that you can easily make at home.
Ingredients:
1 cup of basmati rice
2 cups of water
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
1 small onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon of cumin powder
1 teaspoon of coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Rinse the basmati rice in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear. This will help to remove excess starch and prevent the rice from becoming too sticky.
In a medium-sized pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic and cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the onion is translucent.
Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, and turmeric powder to the pot and stir to combine with the onion and garlic. Cook for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.
Add the rinsed basmati rice to the pot and stir to coat the rice with the onion and spice mixture.
Add 2 cups of water to the pot and stir to combine. Add salt to taste.
Bring the rice to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid. Cook for about 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water has been absorbed.
Once the rice is cooked, remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
This rice recipe is a perfect side dish to accompany your favorite curry or grilled meat, or it can be enjoyed on its own. It's easy to make and packed with flavor, and the best part is that you can easily adjust the spices to suit your taste. Give it a try and enjoy!
